Theme: Bring the Noise!

Noise: Glitch, interference, camouflage, scrambling, asynchrony, confuse the adversary, the unclear. What does all this have to do with privacy? A lot, actually.

Surveillance systems work by closely tracking the microdetails of all of our interactions and communications online. Disturbing these privacy-invasive technologies requires novel network tactics, like making a network so noisy that no one can be identified and tracked.

These days we can only be truly private online if we have a sea of network noise into which we can disappear into. This noise comes from the community of network users, and so privacy loves company.

So what does noise mean to you? How can we imagine drowning out the thousands of snoopers of surveillance capitalism? Show us how you all envision noise in the fight for network privacy!

Prizes

Each day of the week, a prize of 1000 NYM ERC-20 tokens will be awarded to 1 winner.

The rules are simple:

One cast per day will count to your chance to win 1000 NYM tokens.

Art for privacy

With the coming launch of the NymVPN, the first commercial product to run on Nym’s noise-generating mixnet, the Nym team wants to make as much noise around noise as possible. People need to know how at risk their personal data is online, and that protecting it requires inventing novel defense strategies. Network noise is one of these, and art can help us get these tools into people’s awareness and hands.
